The Residential Art Course At Kimbri Farm

I am an art teacher who has taught art to all ages for over forty years and have been exhibiting for the last 30 years. I have a regular solo exhibition at Barry Stern gallery, Paddington, NSW and have exhibited throughout Australia. I am a painter and a sculptor. The course is a three day residential art class at my family’s  farm, Kimbri, high on the western edge of the Blue Mountains of NSW near the picturesque village of Rydal. The class is designed to meet the needs of all comers, whether they be beginners, intermediate or more advanced painters.  My maxim is that anyone can learn to draw and paint – its just another learned skill. How far you take it is a matter for you. The studio is a well lit converted shearing shed with two combustion fires to keep you warm on chilly mountain days. The courses run in spring and autumn – the most beautiful months to be out in the country.

THE COURSE

We start working through a range of drawing techniques and mediums and then progress to acrylic and mixed media paintings. The class suits all standards as it covers a broad field and allows people to take each exercise as far as they wish to go. Many more advanced painters use the class as a way of “unblocking” and looking at their art afresh. In the three days  we work both in the studio and out in the landscape looking at colour, composition and perspective and general picture making problems. Course numbers are kept to a maximum of 12 people.

All materials are supplied throughout the week, but best to bring your own brushes if you have them.

By the end of the 3 days you will have started on an artists journal and have at least one masterpiece to take home.
